You can make an important contribution

Around 40 percent of all people are affected by a mental illness in the course of their lives. These include serious illnesses such as psychotic disorders, bipolar disorders, severe depression and borderline personality disorder. However, finding appropriate treatment options is not always easy. Perhaps you yourself have experienced how challenging it can be to find professional support for mental health problems.
With your help, we would like to change that. By taking part in the MaKo study, you can help us to improve our understanding of the risks to our health and improve the treatment available in Mannheim. Each and every one of you can make an important contribution towards achieving this goal!
Who can take part?
The MAKO study is divided into two parts.
First part: "Incidence study": You can take part here if you:
- Are affected by a severe mental illness for the first time in your life (this includes psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, mania, severe depression, borderline personality disorder),
- live in Mannheim and

- Are mentally healthy,
- feel stressed, have difficulties dealing with emotions or
